This Privacy Policy explains how Chen ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the JustKM mobile application (the "App"). JustKM is a proximity-based social app that lets you know when your friends are nearby (within approximately one kilometer) and share your presence with people you choose.
Please read this policy carefully. By creating an account and using JustKM, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
If you have questions, contact us at chen.onekm@gmail.com.
The App is operated by Chen, an independent developer based in Israel. For the purposes of applicable data-protection law, we are the "data controller" of the personal information described in this policy.
JustKM's core purpose is to share your location with friends so the App can tell you (and them) when you are near each other. Because of this, location is central to how the App works, and some location processing happens in the background, even when the App is closed, so that proximity alerts still function.
We collect only what we need to run these features, we do not sell your personal information, and you can control location, contacts, and notification permissions at any time through your device settings, and delete your account from within the App.
Depending on your device, the App may request the following permissions. You can grant or revoke each of them in your device settings:
Revoking a permission may disable the related feature but will not otherwise prevent you from using the rest of the App.
When you grant contacts access, the App reads the contacts on your device and converts phone numbers into a standard format. Matching is performed on your device: the App compares your contacts' numbers against the directory of existing JustKM users to identify which of your contacts already use the App. Your contacts' phone numbers are not uploaded to or stored on our servers, and we do not store any information about contacts who are not JustKM users. When a match is found, we store that person's JustKM account identifier in your friends list, and we may store the name you have saved for that person (only for people who are already JustKM users) so the App can display them under that name. This contact-derived information is deleted when you delete your account.
Location is the heart of JustKM. To provide proximity alerts, the App needs to know your approximate position and compare it with your friends' positions.
We do not use your background location for advertising, and we do not sell it.
We use the information described above to:
By design, JustKM shares certain information with people you connect with:
Please share thoughtfully: location and presence information is sensitive. Only connect with people you trust.
We rely on trusted third parties to run the App. These include:
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies, including Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or a governmental request, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or us.
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own independent advertising.
Some features let you share content that other users can see — including chat messages, check-ins, and photos and captions shared during a "Show Me" session. You are responsible for the content you share, and you must not share content that is illegal, abusive, sexually explicit, or that endangers a child.
We provide in-app tools to report content and users. You can report a user from a chat conversation, and you can report an individual shared photo directly while viewing it. A photo you report is hidden from your view immediately. We review reports and may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate our rules. Apparent child sexual abuse material is handled as described on our Child Safety Standards page, including reporting to the relevant authorities where required by law.
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. Some data is retained only briefly or on a rolling basis (for example, proximity and Passed Friends history). Location and proximity data (including Passed Friends history) are transient and retained only as needed to power real-time features. When you delete your account — from within the App or by request — we delete your profile, phone number, location data, friends and close-friends lists, check-ins, proximity history, messages, and game data, typically within 30 days. We may retain limited information for longer only where required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements, and only for the minimum period necessary.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (see Sections 12–13). To exercise any right, contact chen.onekm@gmail.com.
We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted connections and Google Firebase's secured infrastructure — to protect your information, and Firebase App Check to help ensure requests come from the genuine App. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
JustKM sets a minimum age of 13, and the App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or below the age of digital consent in their country, where higher). Because the App shares precise location and presence information, teens should use it only with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian, and only with people they know and trust in real life. If you believe a child under 13 has used the App, please contact chen.onekm@gmail.com and we will delete the account and its data.
We and our service providers (including Google) may store and process your information in countries other than the one where you live, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers. By using the App, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in these locations.
If you are in the EEA or UK, our legal bases for processing include: performance of a contract (to provide the App's core features), your consent (for location, contacts, and activity permissions, which you can withdraw at any time), our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, and improving the App), and legal obligations. You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing, and to data portability. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, you have rights to know, access, correct, and delete your personal information, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. As noted, we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law. To exercise your rights, contact chen.onekm@gmail.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
If you are in Israel, you have rights of access to and correction of your personal information under the Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981. To exercise these rights, contact chen.onekm@gmail.com.
The App relies on third-party services whose privacy practices are governed by their own policies, including:
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties, and we encourage you to review their policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
